In a world where access to information and culture is essential for personal and collective development, some are still deprived of these vital resources. Books for a New Page is a flagship project of the Lina Ben Mhenni Association, which aims to fill this gap by collecting and distributing books to prisons and schools located in remote areas.
Lina Ben Mhenni believed deeply in the transformative power of education. She saw in every book a chance to change a life. Today, it is this commitment that we are perpetuating with Books for a New Page, so that every prisoner and every child has access to the fundamental right of reading.
Our Mission
Books for a New Page pursues several essential objectives:
Access to reading: Provide books in prisons and remote schools, to guarantee access to culture for those who are deprived of it.
Promote literacy: Encourage reading and skills development among marginalized populations.
Reintegration through education: Using reading as a social reintegration tool for prisoners.
Create libraries: Establish spaces dedicated to reading in environments where these resources are limited.
Spaces for reflection and dialogue: Through books, we aim to encourage debate, discovery and the sharing of ideas, while promoting a culture of curiosity and questioning.
Why this project is important
Lina Ben Mhenni has always fought so that every individual, whether in prison or in marginalized regions, can access education and culture. As a blogger and activist, she spoke out against inequality, censorship and disenfranchisement. Books for a New Page is a concrete manifestation of his ideals of social justice and inclusion.
Promoting access to knowledge: Lina believed that information and education could liberate minds. This project extends this commitment by offering prisoners and young people from rural areas the opportunity to read, discover and learn through books.
Support for the marginalized: By distributing books in prisons, the project reflects the solidarity that Lina had with invisible and marginalized populations. Reading becomes a reintegration tool for prisoners, allowing them to reconnect with the outside world and imagine a different future.

Our Achievements
Since the launch of the project, Books for a New Page has enabled:
Collecting over X books, covering topics ranging from classic literature to technical and educational works.
The distribution of these books in X prisons and X rural schools across the country, reaching hundreds of beneficiaries.
The creation of libraries in several penitentiary establishments, with spaces dedicated to reading and education.
These achievements show that access to books can transform lives, providing valuable educational resources to those who need them most.
