Closing of the First Edition of the 27/20 Festival

Tunis, January 28, 2024 – The first edition of the 27/20 Festival, under the theme “Borderland on the move! Dignity in action!”, officially closed yesterday, leaving behind strong moments of emotion and reflection. For five days, this activist event brought together artists, activists, intellectuals and an engaged public around themes linked to border violence and struggles for human dignity.
Film screenings, artistic performances, creative workshops and passionate debates punctuated the festival, offering everyone an opportunity to reflect, exchange and act in the face of the injustices experienced by people on the move.
The 27/20 Festival, organized by the Lina Ben Mhenni Association, is a tribute to the legacy of Lina, an activist for freedom of expression and social justice. This biennial event will bring to each edition a cause dear to Lina. This year, the festival was a space dedicated to freedom of movement and resistance to border oppression.
Thanks and Tributes
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this event a success. A huge thank you to our audience, whose commitment gave a unique resonance to each meeting and performance.
We also thank the artists and activists for their performances and workshops that illuminated the reality of borders from new and powerful perspectives. Your interventions provoked deep reflections and gave life to a real dialogue on migration issues.
A particular tribute was paid to the students of the Lina Ben Mhenni Feminist School, whose energy and commitment were essential in enriching the debates. Your interventions reminded us of the importance of making all voices heard in this fight for social justice and dignity.
A Promising Future
The 27/20 Festival is not only a moment of reflection, but an activist platform intended to generate concrete changes. The closing of this first edition marks the beginning of a renewed commitment for the years to come. We look forward to seeing you at the next edition in two years, where we will continue to defend the causes that were so dear to Lina Ben Mhenni.
